— A Beginning
There’s a quiet story in the scriptures about ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom. Half of them ran out of oil. Half of them didn’t. And though it’s just a parable, that little detail — the oil — has stayed with me.
It’s easy to run out.
As a wife, a mom, a woman trying to live with intention in a loud and complicated world, I’ve felt myself come close. Tired prayers. Empty cups. Long days that feel like they swallow the light. I’ve learned that keeping oil — spiritual strength, quiet preparation, daily faith — isn’t loud or glamorous. It’s small. It’s simple. It’s sacred.
She Keeps Oil was born in the middle of all that.
It’s not about perfection or performance — it’s about holding onto the light when everything else says to let go. It’s for the woman learning to love her season, even when it’s hard. For the mom trying to raise babies and build her testimony at the same time. For the sister who wants to show up — with faith, with softness, and with just enough oil in her lamp.
“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.”
— Matthew 25:1
This blog is a place for:
- Words that restore
- Moments of quiet faith
- Thoughts on womanhood, motherhood, and spiritual strength
- Imperfect living with sacred purpose
- Trying to become a better follower of Christ
So if you’re feeling behind, or weary, or wondering if you’re doing enough — I hope this space reminds you that faith grows in the small things. That you’re not alone in the waiting. And that there’s power in simply keeping your oil.
“Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward… and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.”
— 2 Nephi 31:20
This verse captures the heart of what She Keeps Oil is about to me — pressing forward in faith, even when it’s slow, quiet, or unseen. It beautifully matches the message of staying steady, keeping oil in your lamp, and holding onto hope.
Thanks for being here. I’m so glad to start this journey with you.
With light,
Maddy
